UPDATE:
June 16, 2020

Dear Friends,

We hope you and your family are doing well. These last few months have certainly been an adjustment for all of us – for our schoolchildren, teachers, administrators and everyone else involved with our schools.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve hosted ZOOM town hall meetings with parents from 9 different schools in our district. While the content and questions in each meeting were diverse, two important themes came through loud and clear from parents. First, we all want to make sure that our children are safe and that schools have clear and thoughtful COVID protocols. And second, our parents don’t want our children’s education to suffer due to the COVID pandemic.

I’m listening and working to protect our schools. I’m already talking with House members about protecting the historic funding that my colleagues and I on the Public Education committee led for and passed last year – just yesterday, I was on a call with Public Education Chairman Huberty and Commissioner Morath about this issue. And, I’m in regular communication with the Governor and our school district leaders discussing a wide range of topics on schools – from school safety, to how testing will be handled, to what changes in the calendar and schedule may look like.

It will take experienced leadership to protect school funding in a tough budget cycle and keep our students and schools on track, and I’m up for this tough task – but I need your help.

In this pandemic landscape, anything can happen so it’s critical that we have your active, engaged support – including financial support. Can you please consider a donation of $50, $100, $500 or even $1,000 for our re-election campaign? Our next fundraising deadline is the end of June.

Your continued support means so much to me and Keana – and our shared goal of protecting schools and creating a better Texas for our families. The Meyers are extremely grateful, and we look forward to continuing to serve you, our community and our schools next year.

Sincerely,

P.S. If you have questions about schools, or you need help with any other COVID-related issue, please feel free to reply to this email or call our office at (469)554-0428.

We are grateful to our teachers who have gone above and beyond to provide support, care and continuity to our schoolkids during this unprecedented time. As a public school parent, I appreciate their work and the opportunities they create for our children. And as our State Representative, I’ll continue to support them in Austin because investing in great teachers is an investment in our future.
